5 on 5, July

I had a hard time choosing this month.  For me, that is a good thing.  I think this blog roll is going to help me learn to love my own work.  Why be an artist if you don’t love what you create?

This one of my favorites.  First, it is film.  That is always a big deal for me.  Second, it is exactly what I saw.  That makes my heart sing.  It is my wallpaper on my iPhone right now.

Yashica LM

This photo I had to work for.  I had to drive and find a way to the spot.  I had to sneak onto the property.  It went against everything in me.

Mamiya 645

I just love the color in this one.  I didn’t think it would turn out, but it did.  I love that about film.  Sometimes you have to wait for it.

The next two are digital.  I think I have forgotten to shoot my digital for fun.  Again, this blog roll is reminding me to pick it up.  It is fun to shoot one thing over and over and over again.  I photographed this feather three times. The wind was blowing and I couldn’t get it in focus.  If I was shooting in film, that wouldn’t have happened.

Canon 5D

And last, the biggest reason I am going to love this project.  I shoot things all the time…. but they never leave my computer.  I love the photo, but I am not sure if others will like it. I don’t want to be like that.  I never posted this shot. Not on flickr.  Not on facebook. Not even on my own blog! But you know what? I love it.  I really do.  I have worked on not caring what others think of me personally, but I haven’t done that work when it comes to my photography.  It is something I am excited to change.

Head on over to Second Spring and enjoy five of her favorites.

Staci Lee

I like my cameras old, my shoes comfortable, and my whiskey neat.

  • I love the simple, peaceful feel of all of these photos. My favorite is #3. The water, the layers of colors and horizontal lines in the photo just says peace to me. Well done!

  • Your July is great too. I love how you snuck up on that awesome dock, The feather, that's really awesome to me. The details you stop to find. I also think I figured out how to get your updates on your blog via my email. I suppose I will find out next post!
